An international research team led by Bern uncovered a Siberian burial mound, suggesting the origins of a horse-riding culture. Archaeology Magazine named the project one of the “Top 10 Archaeological Discoveries 2024”.

Rockfall hazard on Mars

A team led by the University of Bern has used a neural network to identify 1,383 rockfall sites on Mars. More than half of these were previously unknown. The discovery is also relevant for future Mars missions.
