Guidelines & directives

The University of Bern and the Inselspital have issued various directives and guidelines to support and promote the innovation and spin-off processes, while defining framework conditions to be observed when founding a company at the University of Bern and the associated transfer of research results.

The guidelines from the University Executive Board for the establishment of spin-off companies at the University of Bern cover the following topics: 

  • Definition of startup vs. spin-off
  • Support for the establishment of spin-off companies
  • Licensing negotiations and agreements
  • Handling of potential conflicts of interest
  • Research collaborations between spin-off/startup companies and the University
  • Use of Startup logo
  • Use of premises and other infrastructure
