The University of Bern is aware of the importance of scientific integrity. It not only ensures the integrity of its research activities but also actively promotes knowledge in this area. In addition to training courses in degree programs and graduate schools, it offers the online course "Research Integrity" to all members of the university. The course teaches the basic principles of good scientific practice, provides discipline-specific knowledge, and gives an overview of international standards of conduct. The course meets the training requirements of most funding agencies and journals.

An examination can be taken upon completion of the course. If passed, a certificate will be issued.
The course is offered in English on the ILIAS learning platform.
Course versions
The course is available in five different versions that are adapted to different disciplines:
- Research Integrity for Arts and Humanities
- Research Integrity for Social and Behavioural Sciences
- Research Integrity for Biomedical Sciences
- Research Integrity for Natural and Physical Sciences
- Research Integrity for Engineering and Technology
For example, the courses "Social and Behavioural Sciences" and "Biomedical Sciences" take an in-depth look at various aspects of human and animal research.
