Networking

Working in isolation or alone in the laboratory is part and parcel of a scientific activity. However, early networking within the research community is equally important and a key factor in future success.

Successful researchers create a network of contacts by different methods:

  • by integrating a graduate school
  • by participating in mentoring programs
  • through lively participation in scientific events with active contributions
  • through personal initiative, for example by organizing scientific events (conferences, workshops etc.)
  • through collaboration in professional bodies and associations and the self-governance of the university

The University of Bern supports the involvement of young researchers in this field through the fund for the promotion of young researchers.
