Foundations and organizations

The University of Bern manages the two foundations “Haus der Universität” and “Mensabetriebe der Universität Bern”.

Purpose of the foundation

When the University of Bern celebrated its 150th anniversary in 1984, it received the University House as a gift from the Burgergemeinde Bern as a common roof for all its faculties. After extensive renovation and refurbishment, the University of Bern building was opened in 1987. Over the past decades, it has cemented its place as an interfaculty meeting place and, in particular, as a venue for interdisciplinary discourse.
