Living in Bern
High quality of life and good infrastructure
Bern offers a high quality of life with a good infrastructure (public transport, shopping, schools etc.) and local recreation areas such as footpaths along the River Aare, the Bremgarten Forest or the Gurten park.
The search for accommodation is conditioned by personal preferences, your budget or your family situation. Most "new arrivals" prefer to live within walking distance of the institute. It is nevertheless worth keeping an open mind and considering other districts of the city or even neighboring towns. You can actually reach the city center and the station quickly from everywhere using the bus or tram. From the station, it is not far on foot to Länggasse, which is home to a large number of university buildings. (Anyone living close to town can also travel to work easily by bike!)
