Sustainable development
Strategic objective: The University increasingly incorporates the demands of sustainable development into its academic, administrative and operational areas and strives to become a climate-neutral institution.
The University has an Office for Sustainable Development as well as a permanent Commission for Sustainable Development. This is based on annual sustainability monitoring, the results of which are published every two years in a Sustainability Report.
The University of Bern gears its activities towards the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and is constantly improving its sustainability performance (ecology, society, economy, culture and climate). The University is developing necessary measures and formulating binding milestones with specific deadlines in its efforts to become a climate-neutral institution.
