Sub-strategy 1: Comprehensive university
Strategic objective: The University of Bern uses its potential as a comprehensive university to enhance its interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary work.
Its positioning as a comprehensive university provides the ideal foundation for achieving this vision of high-quality interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research and teaching based on a multitude of disciplinary research areas. The full range of subjects on offer at the University of Bern includes theology, the humanities, social sciences, law and economics as well as medicine, veterinary medicine and natural sciences. The University aims to improve its interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary efforts in research and teaching by removing structural barriers between faculties, departments and institutes. With this in mind, the faculties and the University Executive Board are developing strategic centers, graduate schools, centers of excellence, platforms and networks to conduct interdisciplinary and/or transdisciplinary research and teaching in line with joint strategic objectives.
