Johanna Dürmüller-Bol DCR Research Award
The Fondation Johanna Dürmüller-Bol donates the prize money for the Johanna Dürmüller-Bol DCR Research Award presented each year by the Department of Clinical Research (DCR). The highlight of the annual Clinical Research Day is the presentation of the DCR Research Award, with its prize money of CHF 30,000. It is awarded to up-and-coming academics involved in clinical research at the Faculty of Medicine for outstanding project work. The aim of the prize is to take away the pressure of winning competitive third-party funding to enable their research projects to continue.
Fondation Johanna Dürmüller-Bol CEO Marc Stucki explains more about the foundation’s work: «The Foundation Board made the unanimous decision to continue its involvement for another five years at its 2016 fall meeting. The Board believes that this support provides a meaningful boost to the extremely high-quality work of the Department of Clinical Research and Faculty of Medicine at the University of Bern, as well as that of the researchers based there. Awarding the different prizes forms a key part of the Clinical Research Day and, in the Board’s view, is a worthy recognition of the services performed, providing great motivation for continued research. The Foundation Board’s involvement in the award is deliberately limited to funding the prize and giving a welcome address at the Clinical Research Day to allow the DCR to operate completely independently.»
