Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP)
Blended Intensive Programmes are short, intensive programs that use innovative ways of learning and teaching, including the use of online cooperation and combine physical mobility with a virtual component. Since the 2021-2027 program generation of Erasmus+, the European Union has been financially supporting BIPs as part of "Key Action 1: Learning Mobility of Individuals" for students as well as for academic and administrative staff. Movetia has not yet included BIPs for Swiss universities in its funding program.
Blended Mobility
Combination of physical mobility and a virtual component, facilitating collaborative online learning exchange/teamwork. The order and duration of both teaching formats is flexible. The physical mobility component often only lasts 1-2 weeks. Students will obtain credits via a Transcript of Records or different forms of certification.
Double Degree / Double Degree Program
A study program offered by at least two recognized universities leading to a degree and title from each of the two universities.
ENLIGHT Joint Courses
Courses jointly organized and delivered by at least 2-3 ENLIGHT partner universities. This can include: blended mobility, virtual courses, and summer / winter schools. They are dedicated to global challenges, are usually interdisciplinary and generally apply the principles of challenge-based education.
ENLIGHT open space
ENLIGHT aims to establish an open and integrated space for learners, teachers and researchers to study, learn and work together. This empowers the free movement of students and staff and enables lifelong access to the best education environment. In addition, the ENLIGHT open space connects R&I capacities and maximizes impact by sharing resources of its members.
Synchronous hybrid setting
Simultaneous interaction of all participants, whereby some of the students are on site on the campus of an involved institution and the other participants join online.
Internationalization at home
Internationalization at home (IaH) is "the purposeful integration of international and intercultural dimensions into the formal and informal curriculum for all students within domestic learning environments” (Beelen & Jones, 2015)
Joint Degree / Joint Degree Program
A study program jointly designed and run by at least two recognized universities that leads to a (single) degree and title.
Short term mobility
Mobilities shorter than one semester, often only a few days.
Multilateral Erasmus+ Agreement
The ENLIGHT Multilateral Erasmus+ Agreement is an exchange agreement between all 10 ENLIGHT partner universities. This agreement enables students from most subject areas in which no specific SEMP agreement exists to complete a semester mobility at an ENLIGHT university . This agreement also allows students to take individual courses at ENLIGHT universities (e.g. ENLIGHT Joint Courses). The Multilateral Erasmus+ Agreement only provides for a limited number of places for the entire University of Bern. It is therefore recommended to conclude additional subject-specific SEMP agreements despite this agreement. Interested lecturers should contact the relevant departmental coordinator.
Semester mobility / semester exchange
One or two semesters at a partner university.
Virtual Exchange
Refers to sustained, technology-enabled education activities in which communication and interaction takes place between geographically dispersed groups or groups from different cultural backgrounds, with the support of educators, e.g. collaborative online work. As part of a virtual exchange, students should be enrolled in and obtain credits at their home university.
